# Overview

> What the DocuRise public API does today, and what to expect while it's in preview

The DocuRise API lets customers on a plan with API access automate document
creation on top of DocuRise, without clicking through the dashboard for
every document.

## What's available today

> **[Create documents](https://docurise.io/docs/quickstart.md)**
>
> Turn a public Notion page, a post or a lead-capture form into a live DocuRise document with one
> API call.

> **[Read and manage your account](https://docurise.io/docs/api-reference/list-documents.md)**
>
> List documents, folders, products, tags, groups, email broadcasts and Instagram rules, read
> analytics for a document or across your account, edit a document's settings, and tag contacts.

> **[Authentication](https://docurise.io/docs/authentication.md)**
>
> Generate and manage scoped API keys from Settings → Developers.

> **[MCP server](https://docurise.io/docs/mcp-server.md)**
>
> Let an AI app such as Claude work in your DocuRise account, within the permissions you approve.

> **[Changelog](https://docurise.io/docs/changelog.md)**
>
> Every change to the API, with its date. Breaking changes are marked.

Lead webhooks are planned but not built yet — this overview will be updated when they ship.

## This API is in preview

Every route lives under `/api/preview/...`. That means:

* The contract can still change. We keep changes additive where we can, and we message known
integrators directly before anything breaking. See the [changelog](https://docurise.io/docs/changelog.md) for every change.
* Ignore fields and values you don't recognize; new ones can appear in any response.
* The API is currently available to some accounts only.

If you're building against this API and want early access, reach out to your
DocuRise contact.

## Where to start

1. [Generate an API key](https://docurise.io/docs/authentication.md) from Settings → Developers.
2. Follow the [Quickstart](https://docurise.io/docs/quickstart.md) to create your first document.
3. Browse the [Create Document reference](https://docurise.io/docs/api-reference/create-document.md) for
the full request/response shape, and [Errors](https://docurise.io/docs/errors.md) for every error code.
